I loved the recent story about the clowns in Ashville, NC, and exlrpp's diary Bullets to use on Swiftboaters, I am hoping comments in this diary will produce some good phrases we can use. We not only need to use the facts (I am printing Bush's discharge record, thanks exlrpp!), but find ways to turn their phraseology.
Those clever clowns really diffused the situation and won the day. Emotions are high these days and a little comedy goes a long way. Some groups I am involved with will be marching for peace next weekend in 11 cities across the country (www.oct27.org) as will many individuals not associated with any group but desire an end to the Iraq war. I suggested to my groups that we could use this same comedic tactic. The pro-war group that will show up in Orlando is called "Gathering of Eagles."
I'm not as clever as many of you. I am sure you can come up with some ideas that we all can use. How does "Lathering of Beagles" sound?
Thinking about the "Values Voters" conference held this weekend, I got really perturbed that they think their votes are the only valuable ones, or that they have a corner market on values. I came up with a couple of phrases this morning (not comedic) that I am going to start using in an effort to battle the opposition with their own words.
Let me know what you think of these:
Some Americans believe they are: values voters
Some Americans are: values voting
Some Americans believe they are: pro-life
Some Americans are: pro-living
