So word has it that Republican Congressman Tom Davis's disappointment over being out-maneouvred in his quest to move up to the Senate (because his state party leadership oiled the machinery for former Governor Gilmore to be their nominee, instead) has got him sulking to the point where he may not run for re-election to his current House seat (VA-11) in 2008.
He may re-consider. But that's the narrative now, as we head into the by-elections for the Virginia State Assembly on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 - that is just TWELVE DAYS AWAY.
The elections for Virginia State Assembly seats are in less than two weeks. They are the most important short-term goal on our horizon, in my view. If there are significant victories in these contests, they will contribute to Democratic momentum in Virginia in the 2008 cycle.
Tom Davis's wife, Jeannemarie D. Davis, is in the Virginia State Senate, and has a fight on her hands to hold the seat. Our candidate running against Mrs. Davis for the state senate is Chap Peterson:

Their campaigns have both run sharp tv ads and despite her warchest this appears to be a real contest. If you live in or near the Fairfax County area please consider lending a hand with this campaign; if not, how about devoting some spare change to one of these Virginia races? You can use the above link to volunteer for or donate to Chap Peterson. He's also one of the three Virginia State Assembly candidates on the ActBlue slate, below:

Let's encourage both Republican Davises to "retire".
