Virginia Democratic state senate candidate Chap Petersen held a press conference today regarding Jeannemarie Devolites Davis' despicable mail piece. For those who don't know, the Devolites Davis campaign sent out a flyer which included a disclosure form filled out by Petersen--and didn't bother to redact a section containing his home phone number, address and the names of his wife and daughters.
How bad's it been for Petersen? The Fairfax County sheriff's office did routine surveillance of the Petersens' neighborhood due to the bizarre nature of some of the calls. And his wife had to take her daughters to her parents' house. As of now, Devolites Davis hasn't apologized.
The Republican leadership of the Virginia state senate needs to show some leadership and censure Devolites Davis for this outrage. As Bob Dole once said, "This is not politics. This is garbage."

UPDATE: This story led the early news on NBC4 in DC. WUSA is teasing this for 6 pm. No video or writeups yet.
UPDATE 2: WUSA showed more of the press conference--and then showed Devolites-Davis blaming Petersen for putting up a YouTube video of her daughter. One problem--it's a campaign video from her initial run for the state house, in 1997. And WUSA called her on it too!
UPDATE 3: WJLA reports that the Commonwealth's Attorney for Fairfax County (the equivalent of a district attorney outside Virginia) is investigating the matter.
