This morning, John Kerry unveiled what his communications director, Stephanie Cutter, called a "major" new ad. In my humble opinion, this ad, as have other recent Kerry ads, sucks.

The problem I find with this most recent ad is that it isn't very focused and doesn't really say anything. It starts off with pics of Kerry fighting in the military, in his uniform, and then his overall message is that he wants every American to have an opportunity. What? What does this have to do with anything? He should be using his military experience to reinforce his national security cred, not to talk about opportunities for ever American! I believe I read on Political Wire that Kerry's other ads (which attempted to rebut dubya's negative ads while touting his own record) were considered failures for this same reason. John Kerry is on a losing streak as far as ads go. What happened to the other John Kerry ads, the good ones, with the vets saying things like "John Kerry saved my life"? Now that the official Democratic establishment has taken over Kerry's campaign, the ads, the organization, and even the candidate himself are turning into Al Gore. We need to really change the Democratic party?
Has Howard Dean taught us nothing?
