Just wondering aloud:
Does anyone here think they are NOT being personally spied upon?
Do we have reason to be concerned?
We live in a day & age where "Virginity" can be surgically restored.
Can we regain our delicate psychological innocence as well?
The caffeine hasn't trickled through the cockles of my gray matter & found
the caffeine hub yet, so I wonder odd things until it does. This may be one.
Prompted by an exchange I've had with someone, I just HAD to wonder about the cable guy & that odd box he installed. A pet peeve.
Ever wonder if you should speak candidly in front of your computer?

This may seem crazy - but remember cell phone ID theft?
It seemed idiotic to me at the time that there were no security features.
I have known people whose hobby it was to scan the neighbors calls in his apartment building. He knew about the neighbor wife's affair, even if her husband didn't.
Today we talk like no one is listening, or can deliberately hear wireless handsets. Broadcasting personal information with impunity & careless abandon.
What has actually changed, except for our tolerance & capitulation to intrusion?
Self serve credit card gas pumps - can be scanned for last transaction with a simple device.
Yet we use them for their convenience.
RFID security cards can be read long distance, if someone has a powerful receiver. But they want to put the technology on passports & your driver's license.
We'll let that one slide, I'm sure. Because its easy.
Home shredders are now commonplace. In the late 80's my wife thought I was nuts & paranoid when we got one before there were home models.
It was no great leap to realize that those "pre-appoved" credit cards we were getting mailed - were found money lying in a garbage can for anyone who dumpster dives. Today, she is the obsessive one about identity theft.
Google & Amazon are tracking your tastes & wants, to better coerce you under the guise of tailored CHOICE. THEY know, even if you don't, that you are so much tender veal on the hoof.
How's that skylight in the bathroom working out?
Satellite & Predator technology is coming to a police station & maybe even political office or cable company near you.
Are you shy, withdrawn & demure? Why exactly is that, if you fly?
When they came out with the deep scans at the airport - clothing penetrating scans, the scene was always sold with a really hot statuesque blond going through airport security on the news, so that at least males would think to themselves: "I'd like to scan that number!"
Now that hot wife, girlfriend or daughter is being ogled by a $9/hr guy at the airport?
Usually the comeback to anyone worried about spying, whether by our own government or someone else is... "only people with something to hide" care about spying, or whether they are spied upon, right? Maybe that's true.
Anyone who truly believes that, let's skip the middleman & please email me intimate pictures of your wives or daughters.

What is our disconnect in this?
I've wondered about another thing ever since Apple first started building their web cams into their computers a number of years ago, now others are following:
How hard is it to hack into a wireless network & active the video & audio features in those web cams, unbeknownst to the people themselves? In effect, have a spy into someone's house to skim financial/personal data.
To eavesdrop.
Hard to find routers these days which are NOT wireless...
The cameras on every computer I've seen (Mac & otherwise) are a simple activation of the cam. No security feature, no lock.
Put on some pants, wouldja?
