This war started around the time of Ronald Reagan. For almost 50 years Republicans have aggressively moved to dismantle the institutions and safeguards that protect the middle class.
The next steps will be both more obvious and more hurtfull.
The winners and promoters are soulless multinational Corporations. The war is not limited to America, it is worldwide. Anywhere they can divide the labor pool and population into winners and losers, by race, class or religion, they win.
For months I have sought to find soundbites and bumper stickers that communicate messages that resonate or educate. Taken as a whole they can form a large picture of what I believe is really going on in the world.
Republicans change the subject in order to steal our money. The increase in gas prices keeps us financially weak while huge amounts of wealth are transferred to them.
The more we owe the weaker we are. Bush has created a whole new level of OWEnership.
Republicans have left huge financial bills to enslave future generations.
Cultural and moral institutions have been weakened or destroyed. One example: Music is now gone from most public schools in order to teach to annual "tests".
Republicans have let our infrastructure (a shared community cost) deteriorate, while the number of luxury hotels and spas soared.
Republicans let an entire American city both be destroyed and never re-built. Likely the city has not been rebuilt because of the color of the skin if it's voters.
Republicans pay social security taxes at a rate less than 1/10th of what the middle class pays.
Republicans took our social security dollars and gave all the money and more to themselves.
Republicans killed our pets and sold our military.
Our elections are no longer considered "honest" and "accurate". Stalin says it best:
Even our healthcare system, a basic human right in most advanced countries is not working.
It is a long term war. Eliminate the middle class and you can eliminate pesky elections and rule by fiat. Don't be lulled into thinking the pieces don't fit together, they do. 2008 may be our last chance to fix this. The fix will need to be very dramatic and different to succeed.
