Hello, yes I am still alive.....IN-06
Hi, I’m Sherri Welsh. I write as Congressional Candidates Wife, my husband is Barry Welsh – Indiana’s 6th Congressional district Democratic candidate (although Barry is really disappointed with the Democrats in Congress at the moment).
I haven’t written in a while, we’ve moved to our new home, scouted and setup our Barry Welsh for Congress headquarters, survived bronchitis, electrical outages, and I could have sworn there was a plague of locusts somewhere in the mix.
Well let’s see, we had a very unique lesson about getting a 5-ton projector television out of one’s basement (do not recommend keeping a 20+ year old TV – donate it to a deserving family instead). Anyway, we also learned that when we let the dogs out, we need the electric fence installed and train the dogs (that was mainly me, the dogs have forgiven me).
We had our first communications meeting at headquarters and we realize we are blessed with very talented folks; like Jeff and John from Ft. Wayne driving 2 ½ hours or Betsy who drove the farthest to get to our meeting and at $3.49 a gallon (premium). Or Virgil and Karen; Fred and Patti; Joh, Rich and Bob (and a dozen other members of the committee weren’t able to make it in person) to the meeting. We are very appreciative of everyone’s commitment and effort in support of Barry. Like most Democrat meetings everyone had strong opinions, lots of talking and little decided – LOL. The one certain thing is Barry is about to be another year older!! More about that at another time though.
I love our new home, (new to us) but moving was such a major pain after 10 years in the same place. One doesn’t realize how much stuff one’s husband can save in 10 years!
We had the pleasure of discovering we have a mouse in the garage. (Insert scream here) Did I mention I intensely dislike mice? I can never erase the visual in my mind about the Black Plague of England during medieval times, rats and mice carrying disease and contaminating home after home. Okay, I admit it may not be the most rational phobia but it’s the truth.
We are trying to find a more humane way of catching the mouse and releasing it, find the entry and permanently block it. I may hate mice but I’m not violent, I just prefer to NOT co-exist in the same home as mice.
The great thing I think I really enjoyed, were the elections last Tuesday. What dramatic results! We saw RUSHVILLE, IN turn Blue!!! We have Muncie, Anderson and Columbus (Mike Pence’s home town – Na nanana na na) Richmond turned blue and to the north of the district is Ft. Wayne and boy are they blue. Even our former hometown of little Laurel, Indiana is NOW BLUE – all but the mayor candidate and one city council member candidate sweep the elections in Connersville. We also saw Indianapolis turn red to our dismay. It was hard to see it go to a Republican. But just when you think it’s too hard, a Republican usually shoots themselves in the foot like Mayor-elect Ballard and fire all the people that helped him get to where he is today and then hire all the non-supporters. Looks like there may be light at the end of that tunnel yet. Indianapolis is NOT in our district and boy our District is turning BLUE just in time for our rematch with Mike "I want to kill Planned Parenthood" Pence. I love Indiana, Ladies in case you were wondering about the Planned Parenthood comment click here! You all know I don’t get involved with issues usually, but this is different. Women, if you want to get rid of this guy Pence once and for all, and stop the threats and rightwing nuttery, give to Barry’s campaign now. If every woman that cared about Planned Parenthood gave just 10 dollars, then we could fund Barry’s entire campaign and build the war chest needed to get the message out that Change is Coming and Barry Welsh is that change! Also, contact Planned Parenthood and ask them to support Barry. He is the only Democrat in the race and he is going to win this time if we all help him.
Back to life outside of politics.
I’ve also been able to enjoy the 30-minute reduction in my commute time and it feels so much better. Barry has been my poor guinea pig, first moving the furniture here or moving it there. Having to arrange so many things all at once, I was impressed with Barry’s unwavering determination of finishing what he starts – says a lot about a man.
While I’m being thankful, I’d like to send out a very special thank you to everyone this Veterans Day, especially the men and women currently serving their country overseas and deployed away from hearth and home.
I have to thank all the people that have invested their time and effort to support our campaign. We’ve been very privileged to have such great people. Our goal is to fund raiser our butts off this quarter. Barry has been personally calling donors for fundraising and calling to thank those that have already donated, he’s working very hard. We want to bring in the resources needed to build this campaign to a greater level. We can win this, Barry will win this race.
If you feel you would like to support Barry’s race for Congress, please consider donating to him through his website www.barrywelsh.org or contribute right now ActBlue
I’ve got so much to do, but I wanted to update folks on the campaign. This diary is not vetted through the campaign and is a personal view of a Congressional Campaign from the inside out.
Thank you for taking the time to read my diary and all comments are welcome.
Love,
Sherri Welsh
Congressional Candidates Wife.
