Check out this lead from Peter Baker in WaPo today:
So, speaking of inconvenient truths, what's wrong with this sentence?
Bush did not "beat" Gore in 2000. Bush stole the election, and in two ways:
- Bush's brother, Jebbie, purged the voter rolls of legitimate, and likely Democratic, voters with the Florida felon's list.
- Conservative operative Scalia's arbitrary "good for one time only"* piece of work in Bush v. Gore, selecting Bush instead of giving the Florida recount time to play out.
Silly villagers! They think we're living under a legitimate government!
NOTE You'd think Fred Hiatt's toolish copy editors would insert a sop for the majority of the American people who voted for Gore in 2000, by at least calling election 2000 "controversial" or "flawed," but n-o-o-o-o-o! King George stole the election fair and square!
