I just found a straight analysis of the Georgia Senate Democratic primary. I guess being a probable rapists, possibly being tied to one or more murders, and overseeing a county during obscene amounts of corruption at all levels and agencies is all right if someone has good environmental policy
Yesterday I introduced myself to the Kos with this piece
It not only detailed an obscene and brazen piece of corruption but it was a juicy story that if handled correctly could bring down the Florida State government, run by Reps, and possibly hand Dems Florida and with it the Presidency. It was met with lukewarm responses and so I can only assume corruption isn't that interesting or important here unless good ole George is doing it. It also seems most of you are perfectly happy watching the man in drag (Rudy Giuliani) in the oval office because none of you saw fit to take this opportunity to make hay of the story.
Fine. Now, I read this piece of pathetic political analysis from MrLiberal
Ahhm, if you do straight analysis of Vernon Jones, then I guess you are overlooking some uneasy things like rape, murder, and obscene amounts of corruption. I figured those sorts of things would disqualify anyone from U.S. Senate but apparently here if they also have interesting environmental policy you overlook it.
I know that Vernon Jones is party to crime and corruption because I know and can use google.com
Look up the name State Senator Charles Walker. Notice that the FORMER State Senator is now in jail after being convicted of 127 felonies. Notice also that his sentence is awfully light for all those crimes, ten years. Notice that besides him, his companies, and his daughter, no one else was even charged. This happened at least in part in Dekalb County while Vernon Jones was CEO.
Look up the name Derwin Brown. Derwin Brown was the Sheriff elect of Dekalb County. I say he was sheriff elect because he didn't make it to being sheriff because HE WAS MURDERED. Who killed him. That would be the outgoing sheriff, Syd Dorsey and a conspiracy of deputies and other folks with ties to the sheriff's department.
Look up the Dekalb County Sheriff's department and you will find that it had a history of deep and seeded corruption. In fact, Brown ran on a platform of fighting it and he was killed because of it.
Now, any good politician would do everything in their power to clean up the corruption after such horrific event. Not in Dekalb County. Here is what happened in the aftermath
Sheriff Thomas Brown (no relation to Derwin), DeKalb's former public safety director, was appointed by Gov. Roy Barnes following Derwin Brown's slaying and then won the job in a March special election. From the day he took office, the sheriff has been under pressure to carry out Derwin Brown's slate of reforms. Fellow candidates for sheriff and confidantes of Derwin Brown blasted the sheriff when he declined to fire all of those targeted for termination by the murdered sheriff-elect, or to hire those previously promised jobs. Although he has dismissed some personnel, Sheriff Brown has been criticized, both before and after the special election, for not fully embracing those changes.
When he came aboard, said Brown, the department was uneasy; he thinks his decisions have helped calm things.
"There may have been some concerns when I came in," said Brown. "I made very few staff changes. There were a few personnel changes -- we did let some people go -- but the heart and soul of the people who built this facility are still here
So much for sweeping changes to make sure that a heroic sheriff elect didn't die in vain. Go ahead look up Dekalb County Sheriff's department since then. Who wants to take action that there are further stories of uncontrolled corruption?
In my last piece I referenced an HHS report that concluded this about Grady Hospital, also in Dekalb County,
the patients are in extreme and immediate danger
That report came out in 2005 a few months after Walker was convicted. That means nothing much had changed at Grady either. Look up current stories about Grady and realize the place may go under. Nothing much has changed period.
The police department, the hospital, they both have a culture of corruption on the watch of Vernon Jones. Then, know that what Cardwell reported on was his own corruption. Vernon Jones has been on the police blotter since the mid eighties for such things as rape. He has been tied to all sorts of shady land deals.
Here is some of Jones' exploits from a few months in 2004
Within days of each other, Jones lost two political allies. Commissioner Lou Walker died from injuries sustained in a car accident and Jones' deputy chief of staff, Lance Robertson, was arrested and charged with the false imprisonment of a 19-year-old woman after a night of drinking at the W Hotel in Dunwoody.
It was revealed that Robertson had a criminal past, including a shoplifting conviction, that county officials did not investigate before Jones hired him. Robertson, who has been suspended without pay, denies any wrongdoing in the W Hotel incident.
Also in August, a federal lawsuit accused Jones and other county officials of discriminating against white employees
So, are you kidding Mrliberal.
I don't much care about his policies. Vernon Jones may have been involved in a murder. He certainly did nothing to root out the corruption in its aftermath. He oversaw a county during an obscene amount of corruption. He has himself been on the blotter many times.
Any of you that even dare vote for him continue to contribute to making sure that Derwin Brown, a hero, died in vain.
