The average cow produces 8 gallons of milk in a day.
A hen will lay an egg a day. A hen will continue to lay an egg a day until it amasses a "clutch" of between 3 and 4 eggs in its nest.
It takes 20 acres of land to produce the amount of food the average American eats in a year.
What if the condo building I live in had a huge greenhouse on top of it? What if it produced vegetables year round for residences of my building?
Or maybe it'd be more profitable if this greenhouse grew flowers--roses and tulips and daffodils--that we sold to local florists?
What if surrounding the greenhouse on the top of my condo building were solar panels and wind power generators?
What if instead of the tennis court there was a coop with 10 chickens and a barn with a handful of cows?
100 live chickens costs just a bit over one hundred dollars.
Not only do we need to take back our food, we need to take back our vices.
Drinking Liberally (DL) should start Brewing Liberally.
We should rent a hall, charge $5 a night for DL, and serve our own home brewed beer. By attending DL, you should have to help make the beer for the next DL.
We need rituals to help cement community.
Maybe we could brew enough beer to sell.
Maybe instead of union halls, we could start DL halls which are paid for with the volunteer hours each person who attends DL spends making our brew.
We should strive to be both self-sufficient and lazy.
