Everyone has been pointing fingers at various members of Congress and Presidential candidates for voting to authorize the war in Iraq. As horrible as those votes in Congress were, at least they were able to cast them on behalf of their constituents.
Residents in the District of Columbia have sent their sons and daughters into every war, but have no vote in Congress. No say on whether or not we should even go to war, and no vote to end the war.
They fight for democracy in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, but are denied it when they get home. And, in too many cases, it sadly becomes a case of "rehabilitation without representation".
DC Vote is organizing a rally of vets to demand the vote. It's tomorrow, Wednesday November 7th in DC. More info and details after the jump.
Join Fellow Veterans to Rally for DC Voting Rights!
DC residents have always answered the call to join the Armed Forces to defend American democracy. The District of Columbia has lost daughters and sons in every American conflict, yet Washingtonians are denied representation in the Congress that sends our sons and daughters to war.
Veterans must play an important role in supporting congressional voting rights for all Americans, including the residents of the District of Columbia.
To learn more about how you can support DC voting rights, please contact Eugene D. Kinlow by phone at 202.462.6000 x13 or by e-mail at ekinlow@dcvote.org.
