There's some of weblog awards things going on now. I don't actually care because it's all irrelevant to me.
What is interesting though is that RedState really wants to win it, and their primary competition is the blog from John Cole called www.balloon-juice.com (I have no idea why, and I probably don't want to know either).
Here's a chance to stick it to RedState.com. Don't let it pass you by.
I do not like RedState because they are so polemical, and inherently dishonest, and because the one time I posted a diary I got immediately banned and one of the moderators made a "your momma" crack at me. Very low class.
Anyway, I'm on their little emailing list, and got some recent exhortations to vote for RedState (who only have about 20 posters) in this weblog award competition.
John Cole with www.balloon-juice.com is interesting because he's a former republican who has become disenchanted with the thuggishness and dishonesty and venality in the modern day republican party. He even used to be a RedState diarist, before he stopped drinking their kool-aid. I enjoy reading his blog now.
http://www.balloon-juice.com/... Check it out, and go vote in this competition FOR Ballon-juice.com. It's a chance to stick it to RedState, and that's a good thing.
To repeat, go to http://www.balloon-juice.com/... and follow the link to vote for balloon-juice.com.
Tell RedState that Egilsson sent you!
UPDATE: Someone below said the link was not right. I double checked and seems fine to me. But here's a link directly to the weblogs award: http://2007.weblogawards.org/...
Here's a copy of the emails RedState are currently sending:
----------------------------------
Good Morning,
I've got three big issues for you this Wednesday morning. The last one is the big one. The first two are easy. You can use the link at the bottom of this email to forward this on to friends.
So, without further ado:
- Please go vote for RedState. You can vote every day. The lefties are running a campaign against us. Please ask your friends to vote too.
- Please sign Senator Jim DeMint's Petition. He's trying to get 100,000 people to sign a petition against earmarks. Please encourage your friends to sign too.
- Here's a nerdy issue that I hope you'll call your Senator about. It's the "Law of the Sea Treaty," (LOST) which the Senate is currently considering.
Here's why it is bad:
The treaty allows international bodies to tax American businesses that engage in offshore drilling.
If the U.S. goes to arbitration, the U.N. Secretary General gets to pick the arbitrator.
Just like we pay the most in U.N. dues, the U.N. would make us pay up under LOST for our operations at sea.
Even thought the treaty is about the sea, it allows governments to sue each other over land based pollution.
Ronald Reagan opposed this treaty. While some claim he wanted "minor changes," the release of his diaries make it very clear he viewed this treaty as an abdication of American sovereignty.
Sadly, the Bush Administration wants this treaty. We need to stop it.
Please call the Capitol Hill Switchboard today at 202-224-3121.
Tell your senator to oppose the Law of the Sea Treaty.
All the best,
Erick Erickson
