Wherein I reply to a DSCC plea for money.
I got the following from "Ted Kennedy" today.
It's appalling how many times this year Republicans in Washington have stood in our way and blocked real change on all the important issues. From the war in Iraq to global warming to health care for children, our narrow Democratic majority in Congress simply isn't big enough to overcome that obstruction.
I know you're frustrated. Believe me, I am too. The bottom line is that 51 Democratic seats in the Senate just aren't enough. Now, more than ever, I am convinced that the only way to turn our country around is to elect a Democratic majority in the United States Senate large enough at least to end Republican filibusters, which requires 60 votes. [emphasis in original]
To which I replied:
How is it that the Republicans in the minority can block everything, but the Democratic majority can't block anything?
And if the minority is so powerful, why did the Democratic Senate -- when it was in the minority -- allow the Bush administration to wreck our country?
Why would you let Mitch McConnell -- when he was in the majority -- try to take away the filibuster, and now you let him use it to block your agenda? Why have you never called him out on this?
Maybe if you even tried to bring impeachment or censure proceedings, even if they didn't pass, I'd feel like you were a good use of my money. Maybe if you didn't roll over at every opportunity.
Don't bother contacting me again until you get your act together.
