Wow...the Clinton campaign reached a new low today.
Via it's New Hampshire co-chair, Bill Shaheen:
Billy Shaheen, the co-chairman of Hillary Clinton's campaign in New Hampshire, raised the issue of Sen. Barack Obama's past admissions of drug use in discussing the relative electability of the Democrats seeking the presidential nomination today.
There the Clinton's go again...saying actually being truthful will hurt Obama with the American people...
But it gets even more disgusting.
Continued Shaheen:
Shaheen said Obama's candor on the subject would "open the door" to further questions. "It'll be, 'When was the last time? Did you ever give drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?'" Shaheen said. "There are so many openings for Republican dirty tricks. It's hard to overcome."
Are you f'ing kidding me? Does the Clinton campaign really condone this baseless innuendo and fear-mongering?
Obama has been more open and forthright than any candidate--ever. And, it should be remembered, his honesty wasn't a campaign ploy--it was done almost 15 years ago in a book he wrote right out of law school.
Are the Clintons really this desperate?
UPDATE:
I didn't want to address the racist undertones in Shaheen's statement, but I encourage everyone to read the comments below. Supporters of a RANGE of candidates seem to agree Shaheen may have dipped his toes in some pretty dirty water on this one...
UPDATE II:
Hopefully my new title is less offensive...I took the comments to heart. Thanks.
