John Edwards may not get the nomination. This really disappoints me. I have supported him all the way through, and I believe he is the best person to serve this nation. I may shed a tear if he has to give a concession speech. But I will feel good that he is the Democratic kingmaker....
If Edwards doesn't get the nom, it most likely now will be Obama..
Now why is this? Obama was stagnant in the polls, Hillary was riding high... Until the fighter John Edwards had the courage to stand up to BOTH Clintons. He showed us Hillary as she is. He may have ended up dying on his own sword by doing this. He persistently attacked her on her positions on the issues, lack of leadership, and a continuation of the same old politics. Unfortunately, the public saw this as an 'angry' John Edwards--I Saw it as a truth-telling, straight talking politician. This hurt him, and helped Obama. Obama kept to his 'nice guy politics' theme, had Edwards be the fall guy, and now is polling above Hill and is the frontrunner.
I had the honor of meeting and speaking with Elizabeth Edwards in October in New Hampshire. It was an amazing event in my life. I talked to her about issues of discrimination and I knew she was on my side. I KNEW she was going to fight for me. She signed her book for me, saying "Keep Up The Fight." Every time i feel like giving up I think of that and it motivates me. The Edwards' are such a profile in courage.
If Obama wins the nom and becomes President, he OWES it to Edwards to give him a place in the administration. Perhaps Attorney General? Edwards was the kingmaker in this race... the three way race had to give, and Edwards fought for what was right....and unfortunately it ended in Obama's favor. Now it seems like a two way race. There is still hope for John, but Barack OWES John everything for this nomination. I dont know if he'd choose him as VP, but something has to be done. He slayed the Hillary-Dragon. He must be honored. That is something even Obama couldn't do.
