News just breaking now that Paul Morrison, the Kansas Attorney General, will resign.

From the above story:
"I'm not sure what he'll say," the Democrat said. "But the real fact of the matter is he and (Morrison's wife) Joyce have made the decision not to drag their kids through this any longer. The kids are really suffering."
Some leading Kansas Democrats remain furious with Morrison. "I've never had this much of a political knock in my life," one said. "We'll get over it, and we'll move on. It's not a 15-yard penalty; it's a lot bigger than that."
I recall this being one of the more satisfying wins of 2006, increasing the Democratic brand in Kansas, especially with Morrison being a former Republican, I think? So, who takes his place? How does this work? Does Sibelius appoint a successor? And, does Phil Kline become a factor down the road (even though I know his reputation has been sullied with recent scandal of his own)?
