So, I was working on a diary, trying to explain how I'd stopped worrying and learned to love Hillary...and then the wheels seemed to come off of her machine.
Is she toast? Do we stick a fork in? Could it be true? Is anyone really going to vote for her (who isn't dragged kicking and screaming, on a cold Iowa night, into a caucus)?
Overall, I'm willing to concede and ultimately accept her as the nominee, and probably (possibly) vote for her in the general.
But now I'm starting to wonder if she might actually choke this whole thing.
Now her campaign has engaged in recent "dirty tricks" worthy of Grand Master Dick. Nixon and his team (for those of us old enough to recall) was a master at the innuendo. Could have been implying someone was Jewish, or Gay, or had "black blood", or other "slurs". And her campaign's recent efforts reminded me very strongly of those days.
Can you really say that there is any difference between Dick's behavior 30 years ago and what Hill's folks have done recently?
Now, I'm trying to keep my snarky, anti-Hill comments in check, since I've been chastised by her folks to mind my p's and q's around here. I don't like them and they don't like me, but I've sort of agreed not to call them names any more. For the record, I don't REALLY think they are ALL spawns of Satan...
But, I'm starting to think, maybe she won't get the nomination after all. Now, I mostly know that she'll get her act together, and pull this thing out. She's too skilled to lose this thing, right?
Then comes that horror-show picture of her making the rounds. Where did THAT come from? I don't like her, to begin with, and now I just feel sorry for her. More trouble, I guess. It never helps to look old and frail. Sorry, for echoing Rush, but that WAS my first thought before I found out I was echoing Repug talking points. Bad news.
And right on the heels, the HuffPost critique of her "interview" with Dave Gregory. Awful! I actually saw the whole thing live, and it was (to me, a Hillary-hater) much worse than the blog conveys. She was evasive and disingenuous. Generally, she just seemed like someone that no one would want to support.
Anyway, SO WHAT? Nothing new here. Move along.
I'm really just wondering if anyone has actually changed their mind after all of the recent travails of her campaign? Either someone who was supporting her, or an undecided who has now decided not to support her.
Nothing too complicated here. Just wondering.
