Breaking News: America has a new war cheerleader, step up Mr. Gates and take a bow. Today there were no less than two stories/articles attributed to Mr. Gates, one condemning Congress, re: Congressional war funding, to wit:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Paying for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in fits and starts undermines military planning and risks gains made by U.S. troops over the past year, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday.
Congress this week approved $70 billion for combat operations, but that is only half of what the President Bush requested.
"We will again face the risk of running out of money," Gates said at a Pentagon news conference. He said the uncertainly of funding requires the Defense Department to make "short-term plans and short-term decisions."

And the other, Mr. Gates suggesting America will/may now look to Pakistan as our next country of occupation, to wit:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Al Qaeda has regrouped in Pakistan's remote Afghan border area and begun to focus attacks on the Pakistani government and military, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Friday.
But the Pentagon chief said al Qaeda's activities in Pakistan have not yet affected Afghanistan, where U.S. and coalition forces have faced increased Taliban violence in the past two years.
"There is no question that some of the areas in the frontier area have become areas where Al Qaeda has re-established itself," Gates said. "But so far, we haven't seen any significant consequence of that in Afghanistan itself.
"Al Qaeda right now seems to have turned its face toward Pakistan and attacks on the Pakistani government and Pakistani people," he told reporters.

Dear Mr. Gates, if asshole w and the rest of his chickenshit, bullshit, dumbshit, armchair generals have failed to accomplish the "job/mission" in the past 5 years and billions and billions of dollars later, your time is up. It is time for Iraqis to start standing up! What ever happened to: "We will stand down as the Iraqis stand up" slogan? It looks and feels like an occupation to me. We hear nothing, let me repeat that, NOTHING, about those ********** Iraqis standing up, be they legislators or soldiers, and now you want more money and time?. America, that would be us, can not afford this any longer. Mr. Gates, you and asshole w expect us and our families to fore go universal health care, adequate and reasonable funding of our children’s education, and a healthy economy not beset by deficit spending for the sake of imposing a cease fire among people that have been at each other’s throats for hundreds of years. Wake up and smell the coffee, however allow me to suggest the smell is not pleasant, but rather more like something you step in in the barnyard, or your back yard, if you have a dog.
Bring it on Mr. Gates. I can not wait to have Iraq on the table as an election year issue AGAIN. Your rethug war rhetoric reminds me of tricky dick’s secret plan to end the Vietnam war, only to find out the secret plan was more of the same, i.e., stay the course. Face it Mr. Gates, you are an old white man living in an age that passed you long ago, who moves little soldiers around a makeshift map. Get a clue, what America is fighting is the rest of the world’s negative opinion of America, the majority of which you and your war mongering associates have created either through acts of commission, or just plane stupidity. Yes, there may be terrorists out to harm America, but occupying Islamic nations is not the answer to the struggle/problem.
The balance of the world is looking on America as the town bully, just waiting for us to trip over our own feet and fall flat on our face.
Folks, if you though the war issue was decided, over and done, forget it, the rethugs will not let it die and return American troops home unless we do it. The main questions facing America/us for 2008 will whether America will survive economically, given the continued war spending and ongoing mortgage crisis melt down, to say nothing of the increasing political tension in the Middle East and the rethugs increasing war chants as demonstrated by Mr. Gates today. If you thought Mr. Rumsfeld was bad, get ready we may have seen nothing yet. Tighten your seat belts, we are in for one extended hard road trip all the way through November 4, 2008.
