Lifelong Republican, and very recently registered "Democrat," Tony Raimondo, the Chairman of Behlen Manufacturing has hired DINO Ben Nelson's pal, Paul Johnson, to organize a run as a candidate for NE-SEN.
Johnson, who has managed successful Democratic campaigns in Nebraska for Sen. Ben Nelson and former Sen. Bob Kerrey, has agreed to help him organize a campaign, Raimondo confirmed Wednesday.

Section 6 of the Nebraska Democratic Party Bylaws specifically states: ". . .the name of no such person should be placed upon the primary ballot of the Democratic Party as a candidate for nomination, election or preferential vote in any state or county primary election if such person has announced his/her intention of being a candidate for public office on the ticket of any other than the Democratic Party."
There are officers within the Nebraska Democratic Party, and particularly the State Chair, Steve Achelpohl, that are supporting Raimondo's run. If there is any doubt whatsoever that Raimondo has demonstrated an "intent" to run as for that seat as a Republican, check out this interesting article from the Behlen Manufacturing website.
I don't believe that the anti-labor industrialist, Mr. Raimondo, is the kind of "Democrat" that we would want representing the interests of the Democratic Party in the U.S. Senate. Here are a few articles by Dave Sund of the University of Nebraska College Democrats that explain why :

Tony Raimondo, Lifelong Republican
I don't want to see my Nebraska Democratic Party being sold down the river to the highest bidder. I want my party to play by its own rules and not have its Constitution and Bylaws treated as nothing more than toilet paper by the Republican-Lites that have taken over its leadership. I am considering a lawsuit against the State Chair of the NDP if he attempts to violate our party's C&B by supporting Mr. Raimondo's Senatorial bid. Are there any Kossack attorneys out there that might be willing to help me in this quest?
