For some reason, political pundits have ignored the works of the greatest seer of all time in divining the outlook for elections, relying on such silliness as polls and informed discussion. We present here the first serious analysis of the 2008 presidential race, straight from the stars.
We shall look at the Republican nomination contest in this diary. The Democrats will follow soon.
Any attempt to divine the work of Nostradamus, of course, should begin with the most significant of quatrains, the 666th:
At the foundation of the new sect,
The bones of the great Roman will be found,
A sepulchre covered by marble will appear,
Earth to quake in April poorly buried.
Century VII, Quatrain 66
Rudy Giuliani, the only Italian-American in the race, is the obvious "great Roman". The "new sect" is also a transparent reference to Mormonism. Nostradamus tells us that Mitt Romney will build an early lead (the "foundation"), and that Giuliani, despite being "poorly buried" in the early primaries, will be rediscovered after an April "earthquake" that reverses his fortunes and takes him to victory. The District of Columbia caucuses are April 3. Look for Rudy's comeback to begin here.
The following quatrain has been misinterpreted as referring to World War II, but fits better here:
Beasts ferocious from hunger will swim across rivers:
The greater part of the region will be against the Hister,
The great one will cause it to be dragged in an iron cage,
When the German child will observe nothing.
Century II, Quatrain 24
Too many people have misinterpreted "Hister" as a reference to Adolf Hitler. In fact, Nostradamus has here employed the infamous Banker's Code, a medieval substitution cipher based on the key "SHITE = MONEY". Applying this, we see immediately that "Hister" is an encrypted anagram of "Romney". The "Beasts ferocious from hunger" are Mitt's primary opponents, starved of funds and raging angrily against him after his early wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, except for the "German child", Ron Paul, whose grandfather was a German immigrant. Paul will face Romney in a final, one-on-one, winner-take-all debate, a "steel cage" or "iron cage" match, moderated by the "great one", Chuck Norris, who will become a neutral observer after his candidate, Mike Huckabee, falls by the wayside.
The Gaul will come to penetrate the mountains by leaps:
He will occupy the great place of Insubria:
His army to enter to the greatest depth,
Genoa and Monaco will drive back the red fleet.
Century IV, Quatrain 37
John McCain's Celtic feistiness defines him as one of Gaulish ancestry; as a Navy veteran and Republican, he is the obvious commander of the "red fleet". He will triumph in the mountains of New Hampshire, and find his greatest strength in "Insubria", an obvious corruption of "suburbia". However, he will do badly in Monaco (Nevada, land of casinos) and Genoa (possibly a reference to salami, hence pork products--Iowa perhaps?)
In the places and times of flesh giving way to fish,
The communal law will be made in opposition:
It will hold strongly the old ones, then removed from the midst,
Loving of Everything in Common put far behind.
Century IV, Quatrain 32
The obvious fundamentalist Christian reference to fish points squarely at Mike Huckabee, leading the Christianist wing of the GOP to dominance over its former Wall Street masters (the "old ones"), and to the rise of Republican populism (the "communal law...made in opposition"). However, once in command, Huckabee will show his true roots in the GOP elite, as he abandons all pretense of "Loving of Everything in Common".
He will rise high over the estate more to the right,
He will remain seated on the square stone,
Towards the south facing to his left,
The crooked staff in his hand his mouth sealed.
Century V, Quatrain 75
Fred Thompson, the very model of inertia ("remain seated", "his mouth sealed"), will "rise high" by playing on his reputation as a southern moderate ("Towards the south facing to his left").
The savage black one when he will have tried
His bloody hand at fire, sword and drawn bows:
All of his people will be terribly frightened,
Seeing the greatest ones hung by neck and feet.
Century IV, Quatrain 47
Alan Keyes will continue his lifelong rage against sanity and order, but in the process he will hang each of his GOP opponents with critiques that will fit well in the Democratic arsenal. This pointless fratricide will drive away even Keyes' few true believers.
The young heir to the British realm,
Whom his dying father will have recommended:
The latter dead 'Lonole' will dispute with him,
And from the son the realm demanded.
Century X, Quatrain 40
George H. W. Bush, scion of WASP respectability ("the British realm") will be incapacitated by a sudden illness. Appearing to be near death, he will declare his younger son Jeb his rightful heir. Out of respect, all the current candidates will drop out in favor of Jeb, except for "Lonole" (Ron Paul? Or perhaps a Vietnam-era reference to "Lon Nol", which would imply McCain?)
Note: nowhere in the quatrains do we see any clear reference to Duncan Hunter. It seems evident that he will not be a factor in the race.
