Happy Holidays Kossacks!
As many of you know, because of the widespread dissatisfaction with seven years of incompetent federal government in DC, many Americans are hungry for change and therefore Democrats are showing the signs of being competitive in places for the first time in years. Oklahoma's U.S. Senate race is among them.
Our campaign commissioned a poll in early December that revealed some promising data on the disgruntled electorate here in Oklahoma. Longtime incumbent Jim Inhofe's job approval rating is 48%, with his disapproval at 45%. In fact, Inhofe has been stuck below 50% in job approval for over a year, which of course is dangerous territory for an incumbent. Inhofe was unable to break 50% in any of the ballots we tested, even when we tested his positive profile.
Although Senator Rice is positioned well at the start of the campaign to take advantage of this general dissatisfaction with Inhofe, less than one-third of those polled (a sample of over 900 voters statewide) know him. This is where you can come in and help.
Here’s a special message from Senator Rice to his friends at dailyKos today:
"Having the necessary resources to increase my name recognition and spread my message for progressive change, between now and election day, is crucial for success in November. I’ve enjoyed my live-blogging on dailyKos this year and look forward to many more in 2008. We are making history in Oklahoma and I’m proud of the number of people who have stepped forward to join my campaign so far. Please visit my campaign website and consider chipping in.
We are closing in on our goal of having 2,008 total donors to the campaign by the beginning of the year 2008. Right now we have 1,916.
Can you help us meet our goal?
In this effort, we are counting donors, not dollars, so any amount helps Senator Rice against an opponent who will be well-financed by the special interests he serves.
Thanks,
Campaign Staff, Andrew Rice for U.S. Senate
