...and start talking about that bus's idling, its warming engine, its position on the outskirts of town. It can't be allowed to travel 20 feet, Dems. It's gotta be torn to shreds, with each part scattered over a 10,000-mile radius.
You see, Dems, we are being quietly railroaded into believing that war with Iran is as inevitable as the sun's rising over the tide, but we who've been paying attention, who aren't privy to classified information or CIA intelligence briefs - bloggers, waiters, proofreaders, art designers, shelf-stockers, musicians, etc. - we know that war with Iran is far from inevitable, that it's delineated as a must-happen course of action by Project for a New American Century (you remember that document, right, Dems - the signatories of which, almost to a one, ended up in key positions in the Bush administration?), that it's beloved among neocons as boutique war #2 (#1 being the war in Iraq, and lo, see the many towering victories there, eh, Dems?) and that, generally, the Bushies are seriously agitating for it, to the point of attempting overt manipulations of the media in order to soften its tough 'n gristly bits for popular consumption (Sunday's frankly bizarre "briefing" of reporters with no Pentagon members present, no recording devices allowed in the room, etc., which would seem to fly in the face of even the most conservatively constrained notions of transparency, huh?).
In short: Dems, where are you on the boy-who-cried-wolfisms of this new Iran media offensive, mounted by the White House? Where are you on these unspooling reams of utter fiction? Are you really gonna get your asses fooled again?
A third carrier group is headed to the Persian Gulf, and believe me, two carrier groups were enough to worry any of us paying attention. Who's in charge of CENTCOM now? Why, a Navy man with zero land-based warfare experience - ah, but tons of ocean-based warfare experience. Huh. And what of these claims, being quietly inserted into more and more Iraq stories, of Iranian weaponry being responsible for American deaths? Are you gonna actually touch this mulch to your lips, Dems? Are you gonna buy these warmongering thugs' outrageous claims, or stop them dead in their tracks? Are you gonna be on the leading edge of tying the murderers' hands behind their backs, stopping the pointless carnage, or are we gonna be in a deja-vu moment in a couple of years, with impotent nonbinding resolutions waved all over the place?
Dems, be in front of this one. Demand thoroughgoing intelligence vetting. Close up Pentagon intelligence shops run by characters like Douglas Feith. Demand unassailable proof of Iranian meddling in Iraq before exploding bombs ring through the heavens - and, even if you had such proof, work night and day and night again on the diplomatic side, and endeavor to make war on Iran, war on anyone, unthinkable in light of diligent diplomacy. Don't let Iraq happen again. Because war is ultimate business, you dig, Dems? War makes scenes like this the norm.
Take that picture in, Dems. Do you want to tell a couple like the one pictured, their parents, their future children, that missing limbs and ears and melted eyes is an aw-shucks product of political jockeying and personally desired power? Or would you rather the ability to say, "No human deformations, no death, care of boutique wars on our watch!"?
Do the right thing. We bloggers, waiters, proofreaders, art designers, shelf-stockers, musicians, etc., know just what that thing is. If you're scratching your heads, Dems, don't be afraid to ask us. Peace.
P.S. No, I'm not naive - I'm the first person to mention the Israel lobby's undue influence on politicians of any/every stripe, in terms of furthering Israel's interests at the expense of America's. As Justin Raimondo of Antiwar.com has put it many times, most superpowers don't dance to tunes whistled by client states, but America sure loves doing it where Israel is concerned. Personally, I think the Israel lobby in America has way too much sway, and I also know that saying so is a good way to marginalize yourself, even among so-called liberals. Screw that noise. I'll say it, and say it again. And I ask of Israel, can you really look at the picture I've linked to and say it's okay for Americans to end up like that, for eminently non-American interests, such as making war on Iran? What say you regarding the morally indefensible?
