Senator Hillary Clinton just published her first "HillCast" in which she discusses her positions on various issues. This video was focused on Iraq and Senator Clinton argued for her "Iraq Troop Protection and Reduction Act." After stating that her opposition to the troop surge, Senator Clinton advocated for better protecting the troops on the ground and for the putting pressure on the Iraqi government to meet certain benchmarks. Then she argued for "phased redeployment" of U.S. troops, saying: "Now it's time to say the redeployment should start in 90 days or the Congress will revoke authorization for this war." What exactly does this mean? Does Senator Clinton want to cut off funds? Is this a serious gesture?
Senator Clinton concluded the video by reiterating the same line she used during her speech at the DNC Winter Meeting about ending the war as President if Bush doesn't. Does this mean that the Senator is assuming that this bill won't be passed? This is the first occasion I can remember where Senator Clinton has used the phrase "revoke authorization," so perhaps this is newsworthy. But I haven't seen any news stories on it yet so I thought I'd put it out there for people to see. I'd love to hear in the comments how readers interpret Senator Clinton's remarks.
