I am blogging live from the winter meeting in Washington D.C. right now and tomorrow.
It’s been a great day for Democrats -- the excitement and confidence is clear in everyone -- in every campaign -- and most importantly every Democrat I spoke with today.
It’s amazing to think back four year at how far we’ve come. I was talking to KagroX for a while about the speeches today and Tom Vilsack’s appearance tomorrow and it dawned on me how far our party has come in the past 4 years.
In January of 2003 I was in Southern California getting involved with my local party and the labor movement there. I never thought it would bring me here blogging for Tom Vilsack, a man I truly believe in, on a community I have been a member of for years.
But despite the continuing health of our party -- it’s also clear how much we have to do. Most of all -- we all know we are faced with grave situation in Iraq that simply cannot wait until 2009 to solve this issue.
And in that light -- I wanted to share with you Tom’s comments on MSNBC today.
He said to Norah O’Donnell in response to a question about his plan for Iraq:
It’s time for Congress to step up, and cut off funding for the status quo. I think it is time for us to end this war. I think it is very clear from the intelligence reports and from the American public … that this is a civil war and our kids are in the middle of it.
It is time for Congress to step up. They have constitutional and a moral responsibility to cut the funding and say to the President in very clear terms: we are listening to the American people …

We can’t wait for things to happen two years from now when we win in 2008. It’s time to match our values with action. Time to match our hope with vision.
Tomorrow, Tom is going to give a speech from his heart and speak about the values and positions he has held his entire life. And I hope you will see why I moved to Des Moines to work for him and why thousands of dedicated volunteers around the country are already working hard for this campaign.
If you are in the area -- I suggest you come to the Hilton tomorrow and watch this speech.
If your not -- watch it live on CSPAN or on Democrats.org.
Tune in to his speech tomorrow -- you’ll want to watch.
