Steven Colbert will be furious about this... promoting the idea of bears as cuddly comforters instead of vicious killers is outrageous!
Check out the details and video below the fold.
I'm the guy filming and I'm also Gabrielle's dad. Here is the press release I did for the event. I hope you enjoyed the video!
ONE CORPS - LOUISVILLE CHAPTER
LOCAL CITIZENS ORGANIZE UNDER "ONE CORPS" UMBRELLA TO ASSIST LOCAL CHARITY
One Corps Members and Allies Support "Bears on Patrol" Charity:
Caring for Vulnerable Kids Can Help Build One America
Louisville – On Saturday, February 24, at 11:00AM sharp, members of One
Corps and their allies in Louisville will gather at 982 Eastern Parkway at the former Crippled Children's Hospital near the Kosair Charity Center sign to help Kosair Charities and the local police by donating stuffed animals to the "Bears on Patrol" program.
Ellie Fridell, an expectant mother and One Corps member, convinced the group to support "Bears on Patrol" during the February One Corps National Day of Action. "Police Officers carry these fuzzy friends in their vehicles to hand out to children in crisis situations. Tens of thousands of bears have been handed out in Kentucky and Southern Indiana since the program began," said Fridell.
"Anyone can donate a new or gently-used 10-12 inch bear," said Fridell.
"People who want to make an impact now can join us on Saturday at 982 Eastern Parkway for a few minutes, but if folks can’t make it, they can contact Jo Barrett, Kosair Director of Programs, at 502-637-7696, to offer help."
More information about "Bears on Patrol" is available at

The One Corps campaign is about taking action now to change America. In
January, One Corps Louisville members offered a helping hand, lifted up our fellow citizens, and helped build one America by cleaning up a lower-income neighborhood with "Brightside." One Corps strives to strengthen communities by combining online or Internet organizing with offline or real-world action by One Corps members. Over the coming weeks and months, One Corps chapters and their members will be working to fight poverty in their local communities; addressing important local needs through community organizing and service projects.
