That whirring sound you hear this morning is Strom Thurmond doing major post-mortem rotations.
It seems that professional genealogists have been looking into Al Sharpton's past, and they've discovered an ironic head-turner.
More after the jump...
It must be genealogy day in the MSM, because on the same day that we're getting the stories about Mitt Romney's family connections to polygamy, we also learn what Al Sharpton just learned:
Rev. Sharpton's ancestors were owned by ancestors of Strom Thurmond.
Well, technically, it's a little more complicated than that. But here's the scoop: Rev. Sharpton's great-grandfather was Coleman Sharpton, who was owned by Julia Thurmond. Thurmond's grandfather was Strom Thurmond's great-great-grandfather.
The New York Daily News quotes Rev. Sharpton:
"I have always wondered what was the background of my family. But nothing - nothing - could prepare me for this... It's chilling. It's amazing."
Hmmmm. So it's even possible that... No, no, I'll leave the speculation to the Kossak Krew.
I love genealogy, and I love irony. What a way to start a Sunday!
