Look, I thank and back all the brave men and women that have offered to put their lives on the line for America. They are truly some of the bravest and best people the USA has to offer.
But this Rovian "support the troops" meme is killing me...
How in the world, is Congress's continued funding of this, misguided, badly executed and possibly illegal war in ANY WAY supporting the troops? Wouldn't supporting the troops be making sure they were never sent into harm's way in the first place without necessity? Or at least anything other then having them act like referees in a religious war that's roots go back centuries?
Why is everyone subscribing to Rove's definition of what that phrase means? This is his best tactic. He defines a short, easy to remember phrase, repeats it a million times into the media until his meaning is accepted, and then challenges anyone that disagrees with him or his tactics to prove they live up to his definitions.
And most people in Washington keep falling for it. Please, Congress, stop it. You have to be smarter, and braver then this.
Stop trying to live up to some Rove definition of a phrase and actually do something substantial.
Stop being so afraid of what Rove's attack dogs will say about you, they have no credibility left. Besides they will attack you no matter what you do or say, so you may as well accomplish something worthwhile out of the ordeal.
If the Dems can't do something, they are no better then the Repubs. What is the difference between a Congress that can't do anything and a government that won't do anything? Either way, nothing gets done and Bush rules by proxy. You abdicate your responsibilities at your own peril(politically). Actually, not just your peril, but the the nation's and the world's as well.
The People want action. The People DEMAND ACTION!
Ok, rant over, had to get that out...
