This is the 4th installment of the Female Fantasy Straw Poll. As in May, July, and December it accompanies kos' straw poll. I missed the one in January.
The thought behind this fantasy straw poll is that there is a diverse range of qualified women out there who could or should run for President or be chosen by the eventual nominee as a running mate.
This is more fantasy than ever, as it is unlikely at this point that any woman other than Hillary Clinton will run for the Democratic nomination this time around.
However, consider who you would like to have on the ticket in 2008. Either as the Presidential nominee or the Vice-Presidential nominee.
As to the procedure. The poll is limited to 15 choices: the top ten vote getters from the last round and 5 new nominees. The nominees with the least votes from the last round were Hilda Solis, Loretta Sanchez, Jeanne Shaheen, Denise Napier, and Robin Carnahan. Ineligble individuals, like Gov. Granholm and Madeline Albright, are not included in the poll, fantasy or not.
The top ten from the last poll (in alphabetical order):
Tammy Baldwin, Representative (WI)
Barbara Boxer, Senator (CA)
Hillary Clinton, Senator (NY)
Barbara Lee, Representative (CA)
Patty Murray, Senator (WA)
Janet Napolitano, Governor (AZ)
Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House (CA)
Kathleen Sebelius, Governor (KS)
Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Representative (OH)
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Representative (FL)
New nominees:
Joan Fitz-Gerald, CO Senate Pres and DLCC Chair (CO)
Mazie Hirono, Representative and former Lt. Gov (HI)
Patty Judge, Lt. Governor (IA)
Carol Moseley Braun, former Senator and '04 Pres candidate(IL)
Linda Sanchez, Representative (CA)
Pleaser remember that this is a fantasy, nonetheless, you can nominate women you like for future fantasy straw polls. And if you have the time, go and check out the bios of these women. They're worth it.
