An open letter to Joe Scarborough,
Last night you backslapped the audience with a little dig, (approximate quote) "with all of the things going on in Iraq and Afghanistan how is it that Anna Nicole Smith is all America is talking about."
Hint. I’m not talking about Anna Nicole Smith. You are. I’m home late after a 10-hour day. I’m been to the computer to check the news but my eyes are tired so I’m lying on the sofa for a few minutes flipping in the hopes of finding some intelligent analysis of the current events that impact the state of our nation and the world.
I should have known better that to stop on MSNBC. I’ve made the same mistake for the last two night and both of those nights were filled with American Idol. You were bemoaning the manipulation of the sad talent less people American Idol brings on to laugh at and wondering why the American people watch it.
Well, Mr. Scarborough, I don’t watch American Idol because I’m not interested. I’m trying to find a news channel. Why are you running and rerunning the worst and saddest footage from American Idol and spending hours talking about it?
Mr. Scarborough, you chastise the judges who use viciously berate the pathetic contenders "just to increase ratings" for American Idol. So what is your goal in running, rerunning, and rerunning the worst of it. Do you think it will help your ratings? I certainly do hope not. I hope you run your ratings into the ground and get off my TV set.
This is not what the viewers of cable news channels want. You are too lazy and too timid to even try to give us what we want. You sit in your cozy studios talking the same old trash with the same old commentators and, for excitement, try to repackage some of the worst from the entertainment channels to sell as.....well, I don’t know what you think it is.
But when you laugh at the American people because all we want to hear about is Anna Nicole Smith, I must speak up. This is not what I want, it’s just all I can find on my TV. But don’t worry, I won’t complain again. I’m blocking MSNBC. If I’m too tired to find my news online, I’ll just listen to some good music and try to go to sleep.
