According to an interview on MSNBC, Lieberman has been mulling a decision to flip to the Republican party and to support a Republican president.
Not only did he push through many of the Republican talking points, he said that he may have to "fly in the face of public opinion."
He quoted Eisenhower to say that "timetables" are for those who don't understand war, that we have a new plan and general and troops in Iraq, and that we're having "success".
When he was asked whether he would switch to the Republican party, he said he could not rule it out. Norah O'Donnell even had Lieberman attack the Democratic candidates for President 2008. Though he did not specifically say he would openly support a Republican candidate for president, he did say he would support whichever candidate, regardless of party, that held his ideals on many aspects, especially the war.
Lieberman claims that the Democratic party has changed since Kennedy and he hopes it returns. But it seems more like he's leaning heavily right when it comes to this war and religious extremists he managed to include in his pleas to keep the war going.
