The issue here is whether the NAACP has in some measure lost its way:
Jerry McClough, one of my NAACP supporters down in NC is the NAACP network director down there who started his blawg and he definitely
agrees with me.
Read more about Jerry right here. He has publicly stated that he thinks the NAACP is not doing enough to attract the younger culture, which is a stated goal of NAACP President and CEO Bruce Gordon, a man for whom I ironically made a ton of money when I was part of that demographic.
This is a demographic that clearly identifies with me; they watch my short films and pass my cards at their stores!
Here's the rub:
We have reached a point in the history of the NAACP where I have personally and professionally witnessed dereliction of duties where the organization or its referral attorneys:
(more on A2)......
- provided character testimony in Portland, ME for a white man convicted of a HATE CRIME against their own court liason because the NAACP President, Moses Sebunya, is an employee of the police department against whom an allegation of police abuse was leveled.
- ignored a valid case I brought in Boston, MA against American Tower Corporation involving many African-Americans and other abused employees, even though the U.S. Department of Labor and Boston City Council employees stepped in to help. Scroll to the last paragraph.
- took my father's money and bailed in his case when Bush toady Peter Kirsanow stepped in for the Defense, even though he clearly has a strong case that you can read, right here.
- lied about the presence of a lawsuit brought by Jaffrey Police Department in order to get me out the door and put in another legal redress chair, a move that the sister of one of the NAACP Defendants in a Defamation Civil Suit I brought said constitutes "Game Playing.".
CBS News Reports in this
Christian Science Monitor story:
Gordon's expected appointment has been greeted as both "a breath of fresh air" and a signal "for serious concern."....."Others worry his appointment signals a political shift to the right in the NAACP, at a time when civil rights are under threat."
In another blog it was reported that Gordon blasted Bill Bennett and Salem Radio Network for his ridiculous statements about killing black babies to reduce the crime rate:
"In 2005, there is no place for the kind of racist statement made by Bennett," Gordon said in a written statement. "While the entire nation is trying to help survivors, black and white, to recover from the damage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, it is unconscionable for Bennett to make such ignorant and insensitive comments."
In fact that's easy money. What's difficult is having your subchapters go against an all-white power establishment in places like Portland, ME or Jaffrey, New Hampshire, even though you know they screwed one of your complainants.
All I can say is that whomever was identified in that Christian Science Monitor story is right on point, and I concur, somewhat vituperatively, as anyone might in my position:
Stand up to police brutality, niggas, damn. Willie Toney took 3 undercover guns to the face, and a bend-over cough search all to be charged with loitering, for crissake, and you jump on Chief Dunn's bandwagon after I write a Demand Letter and "threaten" a press conference about police abuse and profiling? Do you know my white friends have *tried* to get charged with loitering in Jaffrey and failed? Get a f*cking backbone.
