If you are like me, and the USA scandal makes you mad enough to spit nails, then you may want to contact Arlen Specter. You see, he has some explaining to do about the USA provision got into the renewal of the patriot act - in the dark - by someone in his office. We need answers about this NOW. Why isn't Specter explaining himself? How did it get there? Who put it in? Why did they do it? Why are they not testifying in front of Congress? This REEKS, and there is something very shady going on. Join me below to read my letter to Specter's office, I think it is a winner. You might want to write one too.
Dear Sir,
It is hard for me to describe how disappointed I am in the efforts of your office to explain your role in the provision that you inserted into the Patriot Act renewal concerning approval of the US Attorneys. You have provided absolutely no explanation about who placed this provision into the act and why it was put there. This action, from an office you are responsible for, has sullied the office of the USA. It has politicized an office that represents every law abiding US citizen, Republican and Democrat. As a person with a legal background, you of all people should know how dangerous and damaging this sort of action is to our democracy.
You owe the American people an immediately explanation of your actions. Only by openly discussing the matter, disclosing the persons involved, and fully explaining the rational of your office, can we begin to rectify this egregious assault on the office of the US Attorney. I, and many other Americans who pay for Attorneys, would like to know the real reasons behind the dismissals of successful and highly reviewed Attorneys and the secretive placement of the provision in the Patriot Act renewal. As a representative of those people, and myself, you owe us an immediate explanation of these actions.
Should you decide not to undertake a prompt and public explanation, your actions will remain a dark stain on your office and your legacy. If you choose not to answer my questions, I will do my level-best to make sure they are asked by members of the media and other Senators who are more interested in preserving the public’s trust. Make no mistake, you will answer these questions, or you will be seen to withhold the information publicly. I think that would be a shameful credential to add to your Senate career. I would appreciate a prompt and through response to my letter.
Yours sincerely,
The Ayahtollah of Rockandrolla
Okay, I signed my real name on the letter. Please write Arlen. He needs to hear from you. He needs to explain himself. Perhaps we can remind him that he works for us - at our pleasure!
