That's a question that I've wanted someone to ask in the so called "Main Stream Media" since the Bush regime embarked on their Global War on Terrah or GWoT.
My perspective might be a little different from most since I've spent 75% of my life living outside the US. 95% of the worlds population does not live in the US. Here's another interesting stat or two. 75% of US voters DID NOT vote for Bush. The 25% who did, represent 0.8% of the worlds population. Ok, so less than 1% of the world, elected the "Leader of the Free World". And who the heck appended that title to the US presidency? Anyone out there ask the other 95% if that was alright with them?
The often used term, "US interests" has always been a red flag for me and for millions of others who live outside the US. WTF does that mean and why does the "US interest" almost always trump any other interest?
So, the Bush regime keeps repeating the line, "we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here". They are also happy to repeatedly remind us what a great job they are doing since we've not had a terrorist attack in the US since 9/11. Good job.
But there are some things I'm apparently too stupid to understand.
- How many non-Americans have to die to minimize the chances of 19 hijackers getting into the US again?
- How many non-Americans have to die to minimize the chance that 1 person with a suicide vest gets into the US to conduct an act of terrorism?
- In a country where thousands of people "illegally" stream across the borders every week, why are tens of thousands of non-Americans dying outside the US in the cause of GWoT?
- How long will it be before someone wakes up to the fact that the GWoT is a great recruiting tool for radicals (on both sides I suppose) and probably tips quite a few people over to the radical side while really accomplishing little in my humble opinion. I mean, is there a finite supply of people willing to resort to terrorist tactics? If so, great. We can just kill them all, right? Oh, and a bit of collateral damage along the way is just part of the cost (we're sorry Iraqis, but if you make an omelette....)
So, what is the exchange rate?
How many people have to die to save the life of one American?
How many soldiers need to die overseas while any number of terrorists can sneak across the southern US borders?
How many years do Iraqis have to live under a 24x7 cloud of terror so that Americans can be "free"?
Come on people. Someone has to have the balls to ask the question.
What is the exchange rate?
