From what we know so far about the crimes at Virginia Tech, the gunman was an angry man who wanted to kill is girlfriend...Domestic violence.
in other words: a woman's problem. so not really important. violence against women is widespread in this country and around the world. in american we think: sure, we should do something about it. but it's just not that big an issue. how many presidential debates focus on this type of violence? yet it effects millions of women in america every second.

here's what they say:
Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said authorities believed that the shooting at the dorm was a domestic dispute and mistakenly thought the gunman had fled the campus.
"We had no reason to suspect any other incident was going to occur," he said.
Yeah, if he was just gonna shoot his girlfriend, no need to get too into it. No need to send a whole lotta cops and stuff. so he was gonna knock off his girlfriend? Big deal.
Today's horrors are just another set of horrors in a long line of horrors in the last seven years. its just another day to wonder if any of us have lives that matter at all. its just another loss of total innocent human beings. W Bush's "culture of life" in action.
Domestic violence is serious. its serious because women are hurt. its serious because men are hurt. its serious because its part of a culture of ours that says its okay to take your emotions out on somebody else because they're perceived as defenseless. and make no mistake about it: i don't care how many guns you own or how many rounds you wanna buy, there comes moments in ALL our lives when we are defenseless. we live in a culture (of life) that says anger should be directed your way. violence directed your way.
prayers to everyone today in virginia. prayers to those poor young kids who were just trying to go to school. and prayers to us --to keep up the struggle for all those things that matter--from mental health funding, to gun control..to teaching kids that our lives our important even if somebody--male or female--rejects us. that there is a VALUE IN LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOR. that there is a real culture of life in America.
prayers.
