I'm pretty sure that the above title is what Faux News would print, in this story about at least 160 people who died today from a car bomb in Baghdad. France 24 has the sub-headline as "An avalanche of car bomb attacks on Shiite districts of Baghdad slaughtered over 160 people in all and delivered a savage blow to the credibility of two-month-old US security plan."
The timing was interesting:
The apparently coordinated attacks -- there were five within
a short space of time -- occurred hours after Shi'ite Prime
Minister Nuri al-Maliki said Iraq would take security control of the whole country from foreign forces by the end of the year.
This doesn't even include the rest of the car bombs there today.
Among the other attacks, police said a suicide car bomber
killed 35 people at a checkpoint in Sadr City, the stronghold of
the firebrand cleric. A third car bomb attack in the capital
killed 10 people, police said.
Apparently, the number of dead from the main set of car bombs has increased at such a pace that the headlines cannot keep up.
Bush's surge is failing, people are dying, and we need to get OUT NOW!
UPDATE: As I said, the number is increasing at a really fast pace. IamLorax pointed out that it's up to 178.
