Lost in all the mainstream media coverage (and lack thereof) about the 2008 race is a discussion of real issues that affect the actual character of the Country as a whole, the standard-of-living for our people, and whether a Nation that talks so much about 'freedom' and 'democracy' conducts itself on the World stage even distantly similar to its lofty rhetoric.
But there is one candidate who gets the real core of what is wrong with our government and confronts all of the major issues head on (without blinking).
Dennis Kucinich is proposing a simple, efficient, single-payer, national health-care system that would permantly solve the health-care needs for all people. More than 14,000 doctors support his health plan.
Kucinich also wants to end the horrifying War in Iraq right now (not in another 6 months or 12 months or after the elections, etc.). Furthermore, he speaks to the core problem with The United States by seeking to reorient the priorities of our militant society around a new focus on peace, not war. Peace not by words alone but by concrete steps and actions. He would cut waste to reduce the Pentagon's budget by 15 percent and establish a new Department of Peace, dedicated to disarmament and nonviolence.
This week, in fact, might just be Dennis Kucinich week.
Rumors abound that Kucinich plans to submit the formal request for an Impeachment hearing on April 25 against War-Profiteer Richard Bruce Cheney.
In fact, he is the only candidate that is even publically talking about Impeachment.
Here is Kucinich in action:
- CNN Interview
- Iraq and Iran
- Impeachment
Imagine how different this Country would be with Kucinich as the Democratic Nominee...
