American values of honor and integrity as embodied by Kevin Tillman, Jessica Lynch, and Bryan O'Neal, today, can be hard to live up to. I have reached a point where I think American military leadership from Bush down is not trustworthy.
It's not just honor and integrity they are smearing. Other values, such as respect for legal due process and an independent judiciary also are American values that I should expect an American military to honor. Ira Glass (NPR, "This American Life," "Habeas Schabeas") has shone a brilliant light on the Guantanamo Bay scandal and habeas corpus this week. Please listen.
Don't forget Abu Ghraib. The entire picture is becoming increasingly shameful. Every story, the one's above by Ira Glass, and the ones below, should bring tears to your eyes.
Bush and his cabal are unhinged. That's not new for most of us. What's new to me, though, today, is to realize how deeply and quickly Bush immorality, incompetence, and dishonor metastasized into the military. Military leadership is going to need a bone marrow transplant too.

And by the way, does anybody know who that military guy is just behind Kevin Tillman and to the viewer's left? What's he thinking, I wonder?
