Hey everyone! Here's our second liveblogging thread on the first Democratic primary presidential debate. The first open thread can be found by clicking on the link.
The first few questions have dealt with Iraq. Clinton gave a non-response, Biden talked about his plan of splitting Iraq, and Obama didn't answer the question squarely about his votes. Now it is Edwards discussing the situation, starting out with his apology.
Please recommend this!

I'll continue to update this as candidates answer.
- Kucinich says anyone funding the war now is not sincere about ending the war.
- Richardson wants all the troops to come out.
- Gravel takes the Democrats to task. Tells Pelosi and Reid to get serious about stopping the war. Nice to see someone be combative about it.
- Obama gets a question about completing the mission. Honestly, I didn't get a clear answer. Clinton seems to agree with whatever he said. (I need to pay more attention to what's being said instead of what's typing...)
Next topic: seems to be addressing various hits on Democratic candidates...
- Obama gets a question about a donor with questionable land deals. Obama answers with ethics reform. Personally, he should've been stronger.
- Edwards gets a haircut question. Says it's a mistake, then goes on to something else. Now he gets a question about how his consulting with Fortress. I like how he tied his answer in to health care (although who knows how true it is) and not crapping on hedge funds instinctively.
- Clinton talks a little about New York. Yawn.
- Richardson gets a question about being the last person to call for Gonzales' resignation. Says that his being Hispanic did play a roll in being slow to call for his resignation; wanted to wait for the testimony. Fairly honest, to say the least.
- Dodd gets a question about being an insider. Says his experience helps, doesn't need on-the-job training. Personally, I think it's more that Bush is a dumbass.
- Kucinich gets a question about his relevancy. Says he will gain traction. 'Not American Idol'...shot at Obama, perhaps?
- Biden gets a question about his foot in mouth disease. Answers, "Yes." Hilarious!
- Gravel gets a question about relevancy. Lights into the top-tier candidates and Biden for not taking options of the table. Says the soldiers have died in vain. Truth to power!
- Clinton gets a question about favorability. Doesn't really address it, says the GOP is worried about government cleaned up. Go sound bites!
Now a set of questions about domestic issues:
- Edwards gets a question about partial-birth abortion. Talks around it, then says that it's a difficult issue to talk about. Kind of a weak response.
- Obama gets the same question. Says it's a difficult issue. Now talking about other tangential matters that we do agree on, he says.
I won't update this one anymore - next person, please start the next thread!
