You want some retail politics?
Congressman Ron Paul, the favorite candidate of every libertarian and the best Republican congressman by such a wide margin it's not even worth discussing (anti-war, anti-Patriot Act, anti-everything-not-written-in-the-constitution), visits some kid's dorm room and gives a thirty minute interview. No kidding.
Check it out.
The YouTube descriptor:
The first-ever interview with a Presidential candidate held in a college dorm room! This happened on April 26, 2007.
Republican Presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul visits James Kotecki’s dorm room to discuss his views foreign policy, the Constitution, and the impact of the internet on his Presidential campaign.
I’ll be posting the full 30-minute interview to my "JamesKotecki" channel on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/...
Thanks again to Congressman Paul and his excellent staff for making this happen.

I'm an unabashed Ron Paul fan, so this put a big smile on my face. Beyond liking it for its Paul-ness though, Congressman Paul's entire campaign at this point basically lives and breathes on the internet. His party hates his guts, he doesn't have any institutional backers, absolutely no media coverage, is pretty much incapable of pandering, and yet, his supporters have managed to find some really creative ways to get him and his message out. It's a good lesson, for anybody (grassroots progressives especially!)
As Mike Gravel showed the other night, there's a certain freedom with being so far outside the party mainstream that you're beholden to nobody but your own conscience. And, as Ron Paul shows here, with a little humility and grace (as well as some creative support), there's no reason why you have to accept huddling out in the political wilderness (or hiding under a rock). What a charming, neat, and strangely comforting little thing.
