The Associate Press is reporting that the Democrats are ready to give in on Iraq withdrawal timetable.
An associated Press story by Deb Riechmann (available at http://news.yahoo.com/... states:
Several Democratic officials have said the next measure likely will jettison the withdrawal timetable, but may include consequences if the Iraqi government does not meet certain benchmarks, such as expanding democratic participation and allocating oil resources.
Can anyone explain why the Democrats are going to give in? Why do they feel like they MUST give money to Bush? If he won't cash the $120 billion check the Congress has sent him so what? I would not be looking to send Bush bills until he approves. Make him come to the Congres with a bill the Congress can approve. The Democrats better learn how to use their power and the fact that Congress is a co-equal branch of government. What are the Democrats gettting from Bush if they give in?
