Tuesday afternoon, 4/3/2007, The French National Railroad (SNCF) broke the world's train speed record with a leisurely 357 miles per hour.
The test was run on standard track as is found in most of France.
The actual train will not hit that speed but a modest 185-225 mph on its way south to the French Riviera and back to Paris.
Here's the kicker folks and ALL Americans should stand up and take notice of this part. The Chinese intend to put down 7500 miles of track for their version of the TGV.
The Chinese will spend about $350 billion for this train system. I'm sure a ticket won't be very expensive either.
While the US government pissed away $500 Billion on the disaster called the Iraq War, the Chinese government invested wisely!
