Mother's Day - The day we set aside every year to celebrate and thank the woman who brought us life. Or maybe some us have step moms, or even two moms. Whatever the circumstance, I'd like to use this as an open thread to leave any message you may want to the woman you consider to be your mom.
First: My beautiful mom died four months ago of lung cancer. She was 64 years old. She raised five kids while putting herself through college. She lived to see three of her kids marry, one (me) get sober, and was there for the birth of all six of her grandkids. She was a woman so full of life that we had to run to keep up with her. I miss you every day mom and my heart still aches.
Second: Almost 3,400 American soldiers have lost their lives in Iraq. Given their ages, I assume many if not most are survived by their moms. I can't imagine the pain they will feel on this day. I can only hope that you are not alone, that you are able to find comfort on this day with other family, friends, or your place of worship. My hearts and prayers go out to you.
