Usually when one side is up nationally, the other sides base states start to show vulnerability. 2 Arkansas polls & 2 Missouri's polls seem to indicate that they're back on the table. However, we got polling coming out of New Jersey & Hawaii that seems strange. Should Kerry divert resources & time to trying to take Missouri & Arkansas? I know President Clinton is going to be in Arkansas sunday, but should Kerry do a full ad blitz in these states &
MAYBE join Clinton on sunday, spending time in these states?
IF, and it's a big if, they feel like they have some breathing room in the midwest, it might force Bush back into defending red territory in the south. By outflanking him we might force Bush to travel around Little Rock & Kansas City, instead of Racine & Des Moines in the final days.
On the other hand, if they divert resources to these states, it might be like Bush spending time & money in California in 2000. We would be diverting needed resources & people that could be used in Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, & Florida. Also, with such little time left, there is no room for error.
