The great impeachment diaries today by foxklub and Rusty1776 and especially the one by buddydharma got me to thinking about how one of our biggest obstacles is the faction on the left who thinks it's unpragmatic to go for impeachment because we don't have the votes. Buddy's point in a nutshell was: We don't have the votes, YET.
I wasn't the only one who thought that - I couldn't have said it better myself.
But just now as I sat here fuming as usual over what the Bush Regime has done and how INFUCKINGTOLERABLE it is that they're going to be in the White House for another day I felt like Ross from "Friends" when he flipped out over being asked for gift money for a man he didn't even know...."IT'S THE PRINCIPLE!!"
ya see...
I couldn't have said it better than Alan Shore, so...

In other words, the logical conclusion of the rage inspired by President Magoo can only be the call for their removal (not to mention imprisonment). If you're not demanding their removal either by tandem impeachment or their resignations, then you can't possibly be as disgusted and indignant as you should be. Not trying to be preachy or nothing, but how can anyone ponder the depth of the suffering and destruction waged by the Bush Regime and calmly debate the merits of just letting them play out their term?
Principle demands that we demand their peaceable removal and it's as simple as forcing the truth into the public arena. Start with the intent and the details of how to make it happen will follow. Perfect examples for us to tout to the fourth estate: today's laudable calling of Bullshit by Chris Matthews on Congressman Kingston's crap about comparing Iraq to soldiers still serving in Germany and Japan, and yesterday when Jon Stewart asked Tim Russert, "At the correspondance dinner, how come you all don't go up to Rove and be like, dude, you said you weren't involved in the Plame leak, but we all know that you lied and Bush here said he'd fire anyone involved, so what the fuck?"
If you're against impeachment and/or resignations, you need to imagine that someone you love is dead because of these people's deliberate malfeasance for mere power and money. Then ask yourself how you could tolerate them in the Oval Office for one more second.
P.S. Does anyone know what it would take to get Jon Stewart and Keith Olberman seats in the White House Press Corp? Surely the Bush administration can't have the final say so about that, can they? ....Or do we have to tolerate that too?
