The Regional Council for the Unrecognized Villages together with the Sheep Herders Committee invite you to a
Demonstration:
STOP THE CONTINUOUS DESTRUCTION OF THE LIVELIHOOD OF THE BEDOUIN HERDERS!
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 3rd, at 11:30am in front of the Ministry of Agriculture at Beit Dagan.
Join Us! Do not stay quiet while the government discriminates against our weakest!
The Sheepherders Committee has been requesting time and again officials in the Ministry of Agriculture to amend the governmental policies that are destroying the livelihood of the sheep-growers, but have not yet received any response. With no option left, we protest this disdain towards the Bedouin sheepherders. JOIN US!
Over 80% of the Bedouin children live under the poverty line. Over 25% of the village Bedouins' main livelihood is sheep growing. And despite this the Government of Israel is choosing to systematically reduce the land for grazing, destroy water wells used by the shepherds, and create obstacles in transporting the animals.
We call on the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Shalom Simhon, to meet and discuss policies regarding Bedouin sheep growers:
· Involvement of the sheep growers in policy decisions
· Expansion of pasturelands
· Governmental investment in the industry
· Ease of animal transport policies to fit the cultural, economic and social reality of the Bedouins.
There is transportation from the Negev to the demonstration.
