The craven and cowardly capitulation to the corrupt and treasonous notion of either: a) that George Bush is a "unitary executive" with absolute War Powers, or, b) that handing to George Bush another blank check to further escalate his illegal and immoral Invasion/Occupation, founded only on a bedrock of demonstrable lies, is somehow an acceptable action to be taken by Congress, not only makes both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid hopelessly unfit to lead the Democratic Party, but it is a total affront to the voters that elected them there and our servicemen who continue to be given up as cannon-fodder.
Nancy Pelosi now has refused to listen to the will of the people on both: a) the matters of ending the madness, bloodshed, and utter futility of the Iraq War, and b) also on the matter of holding hearings into the Impeachable crimes of Richard Bruce Cheney, a man who stands at 18% in the polls and steals money from Taxpayers and blood from our servicemen every single day that he remains in office.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will not lead.
Pelosi is clearly out of her depth here as Speaker of the House.
In addition, it is more than just a question of leadership at this late hour with Nancy Pelsoi and Harry Reid. It has now become a question of integrity itself. Nancy Pelosi continues to let Halliburton and Dick Cheney off the hook with zero accountability and now acts helpless and powerless to stop this new "blank check", full speed ahead funding arrangement for perpetuating the Iraq catastrophy.
Just how is it, that they so foolishly and so self-destructively accept the false premise that, if George Bush vetos a spending bill that would bring an end to the War (which is what the public wants) and that temporarily funds (and even overfunds) all interim military spending, that the public then would turn around and blame the Democrats?
Did it not even occur to them to resubmit the Iraq Redeployment bill over and over and over again until either Bush is forced to change policy, or, until his absolutist War Powers necessarily become more limited? Did it not occur to them to make the argument in public that the troops are being ill-served by no one other than George Bush, while Halliburton reeps billions of Taxpayer dollars and yet the troops have been not properly protected for 4 consecutive years now and that is his fault as "commander-in-chief? Did they not think that the same majority of the public that has rejected Bush's War would not also reject Bush's false construct on the spending as well?
And where is f**cking Howard Dean now? His voice of outrage that we heard back in early 2003, when he was just a nobody on the National scene, has been strangely missing now at this critical time as spokesman for the Democratic Party and what it stands for. Is he also standing silent on the sidelines now while this whole Iraq fraud continues to be perpetrated year after year?
Pelosi and Reid have proven themselves to be nothing more than Joe Liebermans in sheeps clothing when the going got a little rough. They are no more fit to be the leaders of this Party than Joe Lieberman was.
These people are gutless, spineless cowards of such little intellect that they cannot even grasp the simple concepts that: a) it is the U.S. Congress that is preordained with the Power to make War, and, b) that the President of the U.S. is not a King, not a dictactor, and not a "Unitary Executive" and Congress has no obligation whatsoever to simply serve at his pleasure and at his terms (which have already proven to be a fraud).
Keith Olbermann has also weighed on this matter as only he can.
Here's an Audio Response from Mike Gravel, who is proven to be smarter than all of these clowns in today's Congress and who will not be silenced in the upcoming June CNN Debates on this subject: http://audio.wegoted.com/...
The Voters cannot stand by and accept this dereliction of representation.
Pelosi and Reid have now lost all respect and confidence that they once had.
They refuse to utilize the power and authority invested in the U.S. Congress itself.
They refuse to lead.
They refuse to listen to the will of the people.
This is unaccpetable and they must feel our wrath since our dying servicemen cannot tell them directly.
