Update: Obama & Clinton just voted no in the Senate.
The motion to concur passes 80-14 in the Senate.
NO votes in the Senate
Democrats: Clinton, Obama, Boxer, Feingold, Whitehouse, Dodd, Kerry, Leahy, Kennedy, Wyden.
Independent/Socialist: Bernie Sanders
Republicans: Burr, Coburn, Enzi
The House cast one vote on the disaster relief (which passed overwhelmingly, only the RSC nuts and Kucinich voted against it) and one vote the war funding. If I'm not mistaken, the Senate vote was on the entire package, which explains why only 14 senators voted no.
The Iraq funding vote passed 280-142, with a strong majority of Democrats joining two Republicans, John Duncan (TN-02) and Ron Paul (TX-14) in oppositon.
Seven members of the much-despised Blue Dog Coalition voted against funding the war, among them Freshmen Patrick Murphy and Mike Arcuri (NY-24). The only Iraq war vet in Congress, Murphy staunchly opposed the Iraq war throughout the '06 campaign, and he has once again kept his promises. The others are Mike Thompson, Steve Israel, Mike Michaud, Loretta Sanchez and - no joke - Jane Harman, who believes that it is time to "redeploy out of Iraq".
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn and Conference Chair Rahm Emanuel voted for the funding, while Speaker Pelosi and Conference Vice Chair John Larson voted against it.
We should give Speaker Pelosi some credit for voting no; normally the speaker doesn't vote at all. Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, who managed Democratic time on the amendment, voted against it, as did Rules Committee chairwoman Louise Slaughter. DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen also voted no.
The biggest surprises? Iraq war opponents Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jack Murtha voted yes, while former Bush cheerleaders Ellen Tauscher and Jane Harman voted no.
The Senate will vote on Iraq Spending at 8:25.
Bitch/gush about your/someone else's representative in the comments.
