Senator Dodd has shown courage and prescience on this war again and again. True, he voted for the initial war resolution, but his work on the front lines of trying to end it more than make up for his past sins in my book (just like John Edwards). Dodd has been the most visibly antiwar of the credible presidential candidates, and he deserves more recognition.
As Senator Dodd's birthday approaches on Sunday, I wanted to acknowledge that this man was the FIRST current member of Congress to declare his intention to vote against the Capitulation Bill. While members of our party in good standing like Rep. Murtha crawled on the ground before the President and voted to give in, Senator Dodd presented a shining example that Senators Obama and Clinton were forced to follow. Senator Biden, to his discredit, voted to allow Bush to continue the slaughter of our men and women in Iraq.
I just want to say thank you Senator Dodd. Happy Birthday and continue fighting the good fight against the worst president in history. If you keep this up much longer, sir, I'll be forced to jump on that Dodd for President bandwagon.
