Ok, so maybe I am suffering from some melancholy today, and with good reason. My beloved Grandmother died about 9 days ago and the memorial was yesterday. On the day she died I picked up her mail, and she had an invitation from the White House. Yes, she had been a lifelong conservative, and donor to the Republican party, and even though her politics were so different from mine, I know that her dedication to her causes was something she passed down to me, I just picked different causes. Well this particular invitation was really galling. John Boehner wanted her to buy a ticket to a White House dinner for $2500, or a table for eight for $25,000.
Huh?
Typically dinners such as these offer a discount for buying a whole table. This band of thugs will charge you EXTRA for saving them the effort of finding dinner companions for you. The moral of the story here is simple and sure...Bush, and his bad math, will fuck you over every time, you can count on it.
Assholes.
I have been collecting my grandparents' mail and solicitation phone calls for 18 months now. They get dozens of requests per month from the various republican parties that found them to be kind and generous marks for their schemes. I keep telling these jerks to go away, leave them alone, and they come back, day after day. The letters have urgent messages like, "Do you want to support President Bush and the troops, or do you want to let the democrat party and Al-Qaeda to succeed?" and "Our mission is imperative, we must take back the house and senate and protect our leadership in the White House."
Really, could they be any more turdlike?
On a happy note, my wonderful brother has seen the light with regard to the republican life, and has converted. YAY! I am proud to report that recently he was called by the republican party and asked for a contribution. He said, "Sure, I can send you $50, send me an invoice." When he received it, he wrote across it in bold marker, "See how bad it feels when someone makes you promises and doesn't keep them?" He just flew in to visit today and I can't wait to hug him in person for that.
Thanks for letting me vent.
