Yesterday, I asked my fellow kossacks whether or not they would switch their current presidential loyalties to supporting Al Gore’s campaign if he announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for president later this summer or early fall. As expected the majority of voters on my poll voted to support an Al Gore run for the Whitehouse.
Approximately, 56% (271-votes/including-leaners) would change their current presidential favorite to supporting Al Gore, while only 18% would remain to back Edwards, and 12% would continue their backing of Obama. Without a doubt, if Gore puts his name into the presidential gauntlet it is highly probably he would defeat Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
In my opinion, a Gore presidential launch is at this moment slightly above 50/50 because of two major factors that are Hillary’s clear inability that she will not cruise through the nomination process and the public momentum he is gearing up towards a inevitable run for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
From my perspective, you don’t continuously tell the media (on a per-day basis) that you haven’t ruled out that you are running for president when the stakes are this great. Let’s be honest we are 7 months away from the first caucus in Iowa and Al Gore is telling the major media outlets that he hasn’t made up his decision quite yet on May 30th, 2006.
This sounds alot like deja vu to me because didn’t Fred Thompson for the last couple of months say he was undecided about his own presidential prospects and suddenly last week a influential contact close to him leaks to the MSM that he’s planning his announcement for the republican nomination over the Fourth-Of-July holiday. At this moment, I am a staunch John Edwards supporter, but if Gore announces his candidacy I am pretty sure I will be behind Al Gore all the way.
If Al Gore says he's still undecide come fourth-of-July my bet is that he's running for president. Now that's unconvient truth for republicans no matter how you prhase it any day of the week. (We need to end this god-dam war Al!)
